It is possible to experience Mate, the exoskeleton designed by Comau, ÖSSUR and IUVO. Wearable technology for workers. (video: Comau)
From 15 to 17 October, as part of the Ambiente Lavoro 2019 tradeshow (Working Environment) held at Bologna Fiere (booth B40, Hall 22), the attendees can personally experience the many benefits of using MATE “Fit for Workers”, the exoskeleton created by Comau that reduces muscle fatigue during work, thus affecting one of the potential risk factors attributed to musculoskeletal disorders.
Increasing quality or work, constant movement assistance

The use of MATE increases the well-being of the worker by reducing fatigue and can lead to an increase in the quality of work thanks to the constant movement assistance during manual and repetitive activities.
In fact, MATE is the only commercially available passive device for upper limbs capable of reproducing the physiological movement of the shoulders, providing support that gradually accompanies the movement of the operator.
The exoskeleton initially designed for Automotive, now is employed in many sectors
The Comau wearable exoskeleton uses an advanced passive structure that ensures extremely effective support, without the need for batteries, electric motors or other devices subject to failure. MATE is also lightweight, breathable and washable.
Initially designed for operators working under a car chassis, whose arms are raised for a long period time, applications for the Comau exoskeleton applications can be employed in many other industrial sectors.
Comau, ÖSSUR and IUVO to develop this wearable technology

Commercialized by Comau, MATE was developed in collaboration with ÖSSUR, a leader in non-invasive orthopedic devices, and IUVO, a spin-off of the Institute of BioRobotics (Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna), which specializes in wearable technologies.
A core aspect of this collaboration is the joint desire to advance and evolve the collaboration between man and machine, in different sectors, including biomedical, industrial production and the consumer market.
At Ambiente Lavoro 2019, it will be possible to experience live the multiple benefits of MATE in the risk area of the test zone. Moreover, for the first time an evaluation App will be shown that analyzes the workstations and quantifies the benefit obtained with the use of MATE for each of them.
